Step 7. Heap a generous portion of pulled pork onto the bottom half of each bun, top with a spoonful of the chilled slaw, and cover with the top bun.

💡 Chef's Tips

  • ·

For a deeper flavor, sear the pork shoulder in a hot skillet for 3 minutes per side before placing it in the slow cooker.

  • ·

Toast the buns just before serving to prevent them from getting soggy from the sauce and slaw.

  • ·

If you like it spicy, add sliced pickled jalapeños on top of the slaw.

? FAQ

Can I make the pork in advance?
Yes, you can cook and shred the pork up to 2 days in advance. Reheat it gently with a splash of apple juice or water before adding the BBQ sauce.
What is the best cut of meat for pulled pork?
Pork shoulder, also known as pork butt or Boston butt, is the best choice because its fat content keeps the meat moist during long cooking times.
How do I prevent the sliders from being too messy?
Use a slotted spoon to serve the pork to drain excess sauce, and place a small piece of lettuce on the bottom bun to act as a barrier.
Can I use an Instant Pot instead?
Absolutely. Cook the seasoned pork on high pressure for 60 minutes with 1 cup of beef broth, then allow a natural pressure release for 15 minutes.
